Complaints of the stomach, which occur with delayed emptying of the stomach. This can result in symptoms such as feeling full (during or just after eating), bloating, belching, nausea, heartburn and stomach ache.

Dosage and Administration

Adults and adolescents (weighing 35kg or more, i.e. approximately five stone)

The usual dose for the treatment is 1 to 2 tablets taken 3 to 4 times a day before meals. Do not take more than eight tablets (80mg) in 24 hours.

Warning & Precautions

Children weighing less than 35kg (five stone) around 65LBS should not take these tablets. The usual dose for the treatment is 0.25 0.5mg per kg body weight taken three to four times a day before meals. Your pharmacist may be able to help you if you are not sure.

Storage

Store below 30 °C in a cool and dry place. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.

How does Teva-Domperidone work? What will it do for me?

Domperidone belongs to the group of medications called dopamine antagonists. It is used to treat slowed movement in the gastrointestinal tract associated with diabetes and gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining). In these people, feeling of fullness, bloating, vomiting, and domperidone improves symptoms of nausea.

Domperidone is also used to prevent stomach problems such as nausea and vomiting associated with certain medications used to treat Parkinson's disease. It works to improve symptoms by helping the stomach to empty more quickly and to reduce nausea.

This medication may be available under multiple brand names and/or in several different forms. Any specific brand name of this medication may not be available in all of the types or approved for all of the conditions discussed here. As well, some forms of this medication may not be used for all of the conditions discussed here.

Your doctor may have suggested this medication for conditions other than those listed in these drug information articles. USES:

This medication increases movement through the digestive system. It is used to treat symptoms of stomach disorders. It may also be used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by certain medications. Due to safety concerns, this medication is not to be used by breast-feeding women to increase the production of breast milk.

HOW TO USE:

Take this medication by mouth as prescribed, usually 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime. Do not increase your dose or take this more often than directed. Your condition will not improve any faster, but the risk of side effects will be increased.

Dosage :

When used to treat the symptoms of slowed movement of the gastrointestinal tract, the usual adult dose of domperidone is 10 mg 3 to 4 times a day, taken 15 to 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime if required. Depending on the effectiveness of the medication, your doctor may tell you to be increased to a maximum of 20 mg 4 times a day.

When treating nausea and vomiting associated with medications used to treat Parkinson's disease, the usual adult dosage is 20 mg 3 or 4 times a day.

Many things can affect the dose of a medication that a person needs, other medical conditions, such as a body weight, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is essential to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor for advice.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Headache, dizziness, dry mouth, nervousness, flushing, or irritability may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. Trouble sleeping, stomach cramps, hot flashes and leg cramps have also been reported. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: chest pain, slow/fast/irregular heartbeat, swelling of the feet or ankles, difficulty urinating, swelling of the breasts or discharge from the nipple in men or women, menstrual changes, sexual problems.
